Froggy Garcia top striker in Canadian Premiere League
Born in Chagaunas but grew up in Calvary, Arima, Akeem "Froggy" Garcia didn't take long to get called up onto the national team scenes of Trinidad and Tobago football. He represented Trinidad and Tobago at all national team levels with U17, U20, U23 and Senior Team being those such levels.
In January, 2019 the then 22 year old was signed to HFX Wanderers in Canada's top flight league from local club Santa Rosa which he had been with since 2018. The 2019 season was the first ever season of the Canadian Premiere League(CPL) and Akeem did not disappoint. He scored the team's first ever goal of the CPL and went on to lead the team in scoring with 7 goals in 24 appearances. Following his stellar performance in the 2019 season HFX Wanderers re-signed the Trini-Star for the 2020 season.
After the League resumed due the the COVID-19 pandemic in Canada, boy Akeem Garcia went on a scoring rampage leading the league in goal scoring bagging 6 goals in only 9 appearances and also leading the league in shots taken with 18. With him leading the league in goals scored and shots taken there's no doubt that young Garcia is high in confidence and not afraid to take on the man between the sticks.
Expect Akeem Garcia to get called up to the Trinidad and Tobago senior team ranks more often and be placed in the starting line up with the new mantras of Coach Terry Fenwick. Garcia brings a fiery energetic aura to the team. He has a no die and don't give up mentality that the T&T National Senior Team desperately needs. He is versatile and can play any attacking position on the field but is known as a winger with his immense pace and ability to dribble leaving the opposing team in shambles. Even though Akeem is not the tallest player on the field his ability to hold up play and distribute the ball is remarkable making key passes to his teammates.
